Wareham Police issue parking ban ahead of storm

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for the South Coast that will be in effect from 9 a.m. Thursday morning through 8 p.m. the same night.

Warehan Police issued a parking ban for the town at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday that will remain in effect until further notice.

Snow accumulation is expected to be eight to 14 inches, with heavy snow and blizzard conditions. Snowfall rates of two to three inches per hour will be possible at times. Visibility will be poor with whiteout conditions at times. Winds are predicted to be 25 to 35 mph with up to 50 mph gusts.

Cancellations:

A snow day has been issued for all schools in the Wareham Public School System. All schools will be closed on Thursday, Jan. 9.
