Paul David Gottlich, 69, of West Wareham, formerly of Kingston, died April 17 after battling a brief illness. He was surrounded by friends and family at his home with the support of VNA Hospice of Fairhaven. He was the son of the late John and Mabel Perry.

He was born Dec. 31, 1947 and a native of Kingston where he attended school and graduated in 1966 from Silver Lake High School. He worked in a shipyard for a number of years before going into business for himself doing odd jobs with a focus in carpentry. He was also the drummer in a local doo-wop band for many years in the South Shore area.

His hobbies included fishing, antiquing and building model cars, but his passion was riding his motorcycle with the gang from the Plymouth area Dunkin’ Donuts. In recent years, he could be seen at the West Wareham Cumberland Farms drinking coffee and hanging with the “Cumberland Farms Crew.”

Paul was always smiling and would be the first to tell a joke or funny story. He genuinely loved helping others. He prided himself on kindness, never sweating the small stuff, and being the gentleman that he was.

He is survived by two brothers, Donald Gottlich of New Hampshire and John Perry of West Wareham; one sister, Emma Morgan of Alaska; two nieces and one nephew; his ex-wife and lifelong friend, Betty Sarcheh of Oklahoma; his son, Paul David Vaughn of Wareham: his best friend, David Mallagiti and his wife LeAnn of New Hampshire; and close friend and companion, Ms. Gloria Honl, her daughter Becky Honl and her boyfriend also of West Wareham.

Interment will be private. A “Celebration of Life” get-together is being planned in Paul’s honor.
