Cape Verdean Cultural Center board offers thanks for successful raffle
To the Editor:
The Oak Grove Cape Verdean Cultural Center, Inc. sincerely extends its appreciation to the Wareham community for their participation in our most recent, successful meat raffle fundraiser.
The organization decided to take a chance and “think outside the box” by using a large laundry wicker basket and filling it with meats or seafood plus other foods to help make a complete meal for the winner. It turned out to be a smash hit. Of course, the biggest draws were the seafood baskets with the lobster enticements that was waiting to grace the winner’s dinner table. The steak lover’s basket ran a close second.
The board would also like to extend their thanks to the local businesses that helped make this fundraiser a success with their donations of meat and products. Special thanks to Shaw’s, Stop & Shop, and also Frank’s Butcher Shop and Speciality Deli.
I would like to further extend my personal appreciation to the board for the demands on one’s time. During the summer, hours are very competitive and they worked hard to put this function together on time in a wonderful atmosphere.
Last, but not least, the board and I say a special thank you to Pierview Restaurant owner, Steve Baptiste who allowed us to host our meat raffle fundraiser at his fabulous restaurant. Steve Baptiste is well known in the community for his helpful attitude in aiding worthy causes. His staff also deserves a pat on the back for all the help they gave us in setting up our venue.
Thank you again, folks, and know we appreciate each and every one of you.
Sincerely,
Marian J. Rose
