September is Library Card Sign-Up month at the Main and Spinney Memorial Branch Libraries.
The Wareham Free Library is joining with the American Library Association and libraries nationwide to promote the importance of holding library cards in our community. The ALA has chosen the popular series, Teen Titans, for the 2017 promotion.
For children, the Librarian plays a key role in helping them to develop the basic tools for school readiness by teaching families the components of early literacy through story times and computer programs. The library also provides after school help for older children and teens. For adults, the library staff will help patrons apply for online jobs, learn computer basics, and research certain topics. And for anyone who loves to read, books, audiobooks and digital books are available. The library also offers library programs and much more for all ages.
These resources are available free to anyone with a library card. Residents of Wareham may sign-up for a library card at either library, the Main Library on Marion Road or the Spinney Memorial Branch Library on Onset Avenue. Children must be five years or older to sign-up and must have a parent or guardian register the child. ALL registrants for library cards must bring a recent piece of mail with their current address in order to receive their new card.
To further promote September as Library Card Sign-Up month, at Kool Kone, and the Friends of the Wareham Free Library have established a raffle at both libraries. For each person who registers for a new library card, their name is placed into a raffle to win a $50 family meal gift certificate at Kool Kone along with a family round of miniature golf.
