Wareham Key Club volunteers brighten days at Camp Sunshine

For the third year in a row, some members of the Wareham High School Key Club volunteered their time over Labor Day weekend at Camp Sunshine in Casco, Maine.
Eleven Key Club members all helped at the camp, which is a family retreat center located on Lake Sebago. The camp combines respite, recreation and support, while enabling hope and promoting joy, for children with life-threatening illnesses.
Camp Sunshine is the only program in the nation offered year-round that serves the entire family of children with these illnesses. The program is free of charge to families and includes onsite medical and psychosocial support. Wareham students worked that week with families off treatment from oncology, serving as recreational counselors for the children.
Transportation for the trip was possible due to the Stone Family with a Stone Cultural and Enrichment Grant and the Bourne-Wareham Kiwanis Club.
