Johannes Heinrich Wagner, 75, of West Wareham formerly of New York City, Ithaca, Missouri, Virginia, North Hampton, Framingham and Ashland, passed away Sept, 17. He was the husband of Joyce E. (Paulson) Wagner of West Wareham. He was the son of the late Karl H. and Bertha (Bohringer) Wagner.

Mr. Wagner attended New York Public Schools and graduated from Cornell University in 1963 with a bachelors of science and from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a bachelors of language arts and masters of language arts in 1965 and 1969. A U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran, 1st Lt., Wagner served as the company commander with the Combat Airborne Engineers. Mr. Wagner worked as a landscape architect with Vollmer and Storch Associates, Levy, Eldridge, Wagner and Weston Sampson. He promoted design and funding of the Massachusetts Statewide Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Worcester, from 1982 to 2002. He also designed Main Street in Hyannis.

Mr. Wagner served veterans, through local councils, nursing homes, town parades and memorials. He most recently participated in the Vietnam Moving Wall in Wareham. He served his church, the aging and the hungry. He enjoyed fishing, clamming, traveling and was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is also survived by his children; Wendy Joy Wagner of Norton, Cindy Joy Anderson and her husband Doug of Uxbridge and Tracy Joy Walker and her husband Kevin of Thompson, Connecticut. He was the grandfather of Patrick, Gina, Derek, Dana, Matthew, Elizabeth, Jay, Emily and Seth. He was the great-grandfather of Cameron, Reese, Cole, Owen and Hanley.

Funeral services for Mr. Wagner will be private with burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery. A memorial reception will be held on Friday, Oct. 6, at 2 p.m. in the lower Hall of the Church of the Good Shepherd, High Street. Relatives and friends are cordially welcome to attend.
