Jean Carson, 83

Jean D. (Glazer) Carson, 83, of East Wareham died Nov. 3 at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River unexpectedly. She was the wife of the late James S. Carson.

Born in Manhattan, New York City, she was the daughter of the late William and Violet (McKenzie) Glazer. Mrs. Carson graduated from Dorchester High School and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. She served from 1954 to 1957. Upon her discharge, she worked as a hairdresser and in the 1980s, returned to school and received her R.N. degree from Cape Cod Community College. Mrs. Carson worked as a nurse at both Jordan and Falmouth Hospitals.

An active member in her community, Mrs. Carson volunteered at Damien’s Pantry and delivered meals to the area homeless. She was a member of the Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene in East Wareham and was devoted to the church’s mission work.

She is survived by her son, Russ Kendall and his wife Therese of Bellingham, Washington; her sister, Judy Loud and her husband Fred of Sagamore Beach; her grandson, Gus Kendall of Bellingham, Washington; her sister in-law, Roberta Glazer of Mashpee; her nieces and nephews, Gary Glazer, Jayne Broydrick, Joyce Ebsary, Jean Potter, and Frederic Loud, III; and several great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, the late George W. Glazer and her nephew, the late Todd Glazer.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, Nov. 9 at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Rt. 28), Wareham from 4 to 7 p.m. Her funeral service will be held on Friday, Nov. 10 at the Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene, 6 Rogers Ave., Wareham at 10 a.m. Interment will take place on Monday, Nov. 13 at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave., Bourne at 11:15 a.m. Arrive at the cemetery by 11 a.m.
