Oliver M. Silva, Jr., 76, died Dec. 20 at Tobey Hospital in Wareham unexpectedly. He was the husband of Geraldine M. (Barros) Silva.

Born in Wareham, he was the son of the late Alice B. (Matthews) and Oliver M. Silva, Sr. A graduate of Wareham High School, Class of 1959, Mr. Silva was a member of IUOE Local #4, and heavy equipment operator for Lawrence-Lynch Corp. in Falmouth for 30 years. He retired in 1997.

Mr. Silva served in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed bowling and golf, and was a member of Cape Cod Birdies Golf Club. Mr. Silva was a parishioner of St. Patrick’s Church in Wareham.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine; his daughter, Cheryl S. (Silva) Haynes of Harmony, Rhode Island; his son, Oliver M. Silva, III of Woburn; his sister, Shirley Spencer of Wareham; his grandchildren, Jared Haynes, Marley Haynes, Gianna Silva and Nathan Silva; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, the late Wilfred Livramento and his sister, the late Mena Camphina.

His funeral will be Saturday, Dec. 23 from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway, (Route 28), Wareham at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church, High St., Wareham at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Wareham. Visiting hours will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
