Wareham Police discovered 112 pounds of marijuana at Cape Cod Express, a Wareham-based shipping company, and arrested Michael Chen of Providence for trafficking marijuana on Wednesday.

The police department received information regarding suspicious packages on Wednesday, described as two wooden crates at Cape Cod Express.

While Wareham Police detectives were investigating, 40-year-old Chen arrived and claimed ownership of the packages. Detectives confronted him and Chen consented to a search of the crates, which contained marijuana packaged in 60 plastic food saver bags in one crate and 52 bags of marijuana in the other crate, according to police.

Chen was placed under arrest at the scene and charged with trafficking marijuana over 100 pounds. His car was seized for possible forfeiture proceedings, as an investigation found the car was recently purchased outright in cash.

Also assisting in the investigation were narcotics detection certified Bourne Police Department K9 Dutch and his handler, Officer Lee Desrosiers.
