Kathleen Morris, 77

Kathleen E. Morris, 77, of Onset died Jan. 17 at Tobey Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Esther (Lombard) and Paul A. Morris, Sr. Known as “Tina”, “Teenie” or “Kathy” in her professional setting, people were her passion and she enjoyed meeting them and learning their stories. She was a friend to many and always offered support to anyone who needed it. She enjoyed life and loved to learn new things.

A graduate of Wareham High School, Class of 1958, Kathy moved to Boston and began work as a secretary for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company. After returning to Wareham, Kathy worked in special education as a para-professional for many years at Wareham High School. After her retirement, she was employed as a support advocate for Seven Hills. Many of her former students remained in touch with her, often sharing pictures and stories of their own families.

Involved in her community, Kathy worked the polls for the Town of Wareham, was a member of the Cape Verdean Festival Committee, a volunteer for the Christa Baptiste-Patterson Scholarship Committee, and a longtime communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Onset. She loved music, particularly jazz.

She is survived by her daughters, Jennifer E. Morris Pina, and her husband Martin Pina of Wareham, and Michelle Morris of Onset; her brothers, Kevin Morris of Arizona, and Christopher Morris of New Bedford; her stepmother, Ethel Morris of New Bedford; her grandchildren, Marissa Jackson, Christian Morris Pina, Adrienne Pina, Alexis Rapoza, Ariel Pina Holmes and Justin White; her great granddaughter, Amiah Bryant and great-grandsons Damon Almeida, Jahred White and Kaiden Holmes; her niece, Elizabeth Morris Ross and nephew, Paul A. Morris, III.; her devoted and loving cousins Celeste Lombard and Henry Lombard, III and great nephews, Brenden, Jacob, Sam and Nathan, and many other extended family and friends who will miss her dearly. She was predeceased by her brothers, the late Paul A. Morris, Jr. and Ricardo Morris.

Her funeral will be from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Route 28), Wareham on Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 11 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church, Onset Ave., Onset at noon. Interment will be in Center Cemetery, Wareham. Visiting hours will be Monday from 5 to 8 p.m.
