John J. Gilmore, 52

Feb 7, 2018

John J. Gilmore, 52, of Wareham passed away suddenly on Thursday, Feb. 1.

Born July 30, 1965, in Boston, he was the son of John and Cheryl (Johnson) Gilmore of Plymouth.

As a younger man, John was a member of the Carver Men's Softball League and played street hockey and basketball. He enjoyed watching sports and having good times with friends and family.

John, kind and gentle, possessed the gift of humor and will be missed by many.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge for more than 15 years, where he cooked and volunteered – putting smiles on children's faces as the Easter Bunny and serving community dinners.

More recently, many in Wareham know John for the countless hours he spent assisting his wife of 19 years, Kathleen M. (Christy) Gilmore, delivering Wareham Week to stores and businesses in East Wareham and Onset.

He is survived by his wife and parents; two brothers, Richard F. Gilmore and Scott M. Gilmore of Plymouth; a son from a previous marriage, Robert J. Deyesso; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Marshfield at a later date. For online guestbook and updated service information, go to http://www.macdonaldfuneralhome.com/John J. Gilmore.
