Eversource says power restoration may take days in wake of storm

Eversource officials warn that it may take some time before power is completely restored following Tuesday’s wet and windy nor’easter.

“Customers are being advised to make plans as it may be days until power is fully restored,” according to an Eversource press release.

In Wareham, a little less than half the town was dark late Tuesday. Eversource officials said the heavy, wet snow and high winds made it challenging for crews to safely work, hampering restoration efforts.

The storm comes on the heels of a nor’easter that hit March 2, which also caused widespread, prolonged power outages.

“This has been a long, trying two weeks for our customers and we appreciate their understanding as we once again work continuously to restore power to all those affected by this latest round of severe winter weather,” said Eversource Vice President of Electric Field Operations Doug Foley.

The company urges customers to always stay clear of downed wires and to report them immediately to 9-1-1. Customers can report an outage online at www.eversource.com, or by calling 800-592-2000. Those who signed up for the company’s two-way texting feature can send a text to report an outage and receive outage updates as they happen.

Any customers who are without power and using a generator are reminded to be sure the generator is located well away from their home or business and that the transfer switch, installed by a licensed electrician, is working properly.
