A 44-year-old Wareham man was arrested Friday charged with possessing crack cocaine with intent to distribute.

Wareham Police said David “DJ” Johnson, of 20 Pires St., was found with eight pieces of crack cocaine inside Room 3 of the Village Motel on Cranberry Highway at approximately noon. Johnson was the target of a search warrant police secured regarding crack cocaine sales in the motel.

Police said Johnson and four others were sitting around a table with the drugs, which have an approximate street value of $800. A digital scale, folding knife, sandwich bags and two glass pipes were found on the table, too. Police said Johnson admitted to owning the items.

Johnson was arrested without incident and charged with possession of a Class B substance (cocaine) with intent to distribute.
