2 Wareham Cub Scouts 'cross over' to Troop 39

Apr 7, 2018

Boy Scout Troop 39 welcomed two new recruits – Caiden Kelly and Dante Ready – during a “crossing over” on April 6.

Held in St. Patrick’s hall, the ceremony, which is named for the bridge that the boys walked over, honored the pair of Webelos who decided to continue on in scouting.

After crossing the bridge the boys were greeted by several members of Troop 39. On the bridge, the words of the Scout oath, including thrifty, brave, clean and reverent, were written.

“Whether you’re a Boy Scout or a Cub Scout, these words really ring true,” said Troop 39 Scoutmaster Chris Moulding.

Before joining the troop, Caiden and Dante received the Arrow of Light, Cub Scouting’s highest honor. Two other boys, Charlie Buckingham and Hunter Costa, also received the award.

Cub Scouts of all ages in Pack 39 were recognized for many accomplishments throughout the year, too. The event, known as the Blue and Gold Banquet, featured awards, recognition and stories from past scouting events.
