Encore screening of 'Postcards from Onset' film scheduled

Jun 15, 2011

Onset turned out last Sunday, June 12 for the premiere screening of the Wareham Community Television (WCTV) documentary, “Postcards from Onset”. More than 200 people packed into Salerno’s Function hall  for the showing.

“We knew our show would have broad appeal in town but, quite frankly, we were blown away by the response we received,”  aid Jay Heard, Executive Director at Wareham Community Television (WCTV).

In addition to Onset residents, people came from as far away as Maryland and several came from the Boston area.

“Historical documentary programs always attract large audiences but it’s unusual for a local story to have the wide appeal of this one,” Dan Hnatio, a filmmaker from Stow commented.

Most of the 20 storytellers featured in the video were in attendance at the first show and they received a standing ovation from the audience as the credits rolled.

Salerno’s Function Hall in Onset has offered another evening to screen “Postcards from Onset” because of all the people who were turned away. The next free screening will be Sunday July 10 at 6:00pm and 8:30pm.

Reservations may be made by calling WCTV at (508)-273-2340 or by email at onset@warehamtv.org.
