A parade kicked off baseball season for the boys and girls of Wareham Little League on Sunday.

Little League President Quirino doCanto greeted parents and players during a ceremony. He welcomed parents at the league’s ball fields on Charge Pond Road before a round of games.

doCanto said he was looking forward to another successful year despite the league’s number being slightly down.

He noted last year the league had approximately 190 players. This year, that number is roughly 175.

“I’m optimistic for this year I think it’s going to be very good,” he said. “We’ve got a lot of new, young players who have signed up.”

Wareham Little League games are held on Saturdays at the ballfields. For more information, visit www.warehamlittleleague.net.
