Wareham Oyster Festival returns on May 27

May 14, 2018

The Wareham Oyster Festival will return to Main Street on May 27 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The rain date for this free festival is May 28.

Some 20 food vendors will offer a variety of fare, with the focus on shellfish. Attendees can try oysters from two different farms in Wareham and from Cape Cod, Cuttyhunk, and Rhode Island. Other seafood offerings include lobster rolls, stuffies, and Lindsey’s Restaurant’s seafood bisque.

There will be non-seafood options too, from burgers and dogs to homemade cookies and ice cream. In all, more than 50 vendors will be on hand with a variety of handcrafted items and other goods.

The food court, located near 200 Main St., will have live music throughout the day, including the 17-piece Southcoast Jazz Orchestra taking the stage from 1 to 3 p.m. Later, the classic rock band Synthesis will perform, and the day will begin with The Unlikely Strummers, a ukulele band.

The festival begins with a 5K run/walk to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Wareham.

Earlier in the week, the Wareham Oyster Festival will offer a series of educational workshops. For more information, visit warehamoyster.com.
