Eric Eli Morton, 38, of Onset, died May 17 at his home unexpectedly.

Born in Wareham, he was the son of Bruce R. Cardoza of Onset, and Carmen P. Morton of Cedarville. Eric was a longtime resident of Wareham and formerly lived in Plymouth. He worked as a laborer for Cardoza Paving Company.

Eric was known for his knowledge of football statistics. A Philadelphia Eagles fan, he was thrilled at their Super Bowl victory over the Patriots. He enjoyed golf and spending time with his family. Eric loved National Geographic.

Survivors include his parents, Bruce R. Cardoza of Onset, and Carmen P. Morton of Cedarville; his step-mother, Valerie Cardoza of Onset; his sisters, Kirsten Colon and her husband Kelvin of Palm Bay, Florida, Racquel Cardoza and Asia Rhea Morton both of Wareham; his brother, Justin Troy Morton of Fall River; his nieces and nephews, Devin Rodrigues, Jayceon King Tillman, CaiLysce and Raeghan Blake, and Aubrey, Thaddeus and Adonis France. Eric is also survived by his aunt, Hannelore Morton; his cousins, Tyrone Morton, Shea Morton, Adrian Morton and Gino Cardoza, and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends in Plymouth. He was predeceased by his grandparents, the late Richard and Hannelore Morton, and Manuel and Eugenia Cardoza.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Route 28), Wareham on Tuesday, May 22, from 10 a.m. to noon followed by a funeral service at noon. Following the service, all are invited to continue to celebrate Eric’s life at the Bourne VFW Post, 180 Shore Road, Bourne.
