Wareham Militia, Minutemen salute those who helped during visit from George Washington

May 24, 2018

To the Editor:

The Wareham Minutemen and Militia Companies, Inc., wishes to sincerely thank everyone who made our most recent visit of Gen. George Washington, (re-enactor Samuel Davis) possible.

Gen. George Washington spoke to the students of Wareham High School on April 27 and then at a public presentation that evening. Three lucky winners of our raffle, and their guests, enjoyed a three-course colonial dinner with General Washington the following evening, a unique and wonderful experience.

We would like to thank the following sponsors of our event: Cape Cod Five Cents Bank, A.D. Makepeace Company, Dunkin’ Donuts, James Bruce, the Wareham Historical Society, LaFrance Hospitality, the Marion Recreation Department, WCTV, the Buzzards Bay Buccaneers and an anonymous donor.

Finally, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to our colonial cooks who provided the most amazing three course colonial dinner for General Washington and his guests. It went beyond our expectations.

The Wareham Minutemen and Militia Companies is a group of citizens interested in colonial history. We perform re-enactments, march in parades, visit schools and participate in other historic and community events. Contact us at wareham.militia@comcast.net for more information.

Sincerely,

Wareham Minutemen and Militia Companies, Inc.
