Entrapment, injuries reported in head-on collision in Wareham

Three people were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after a head-on collision early Monday on Route 28 in Wareham.

According to Wareham Police, the crash was reported at 6:07 a.m. near Garden Homes Estates North mobile home park, located at 2833 Cranberry Highway.

A 27-year-old Bourne man lost control of his car, crossed the center line, and clipped another car before continuing. Then, the driver collided head-on with a third car. Police said the driver of the third car, a man, was trapped inside and was extricated by members of the Wareham Fire Department. The driver of the third car and a woman passenger, the man's wife, were both taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.

The Bourne man was taken to Tobey Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said. He is facing multiple motor vehicle charges, according to police. The cause of the crash is under investigation by Wareham Police.

The driver of the second car was uninjured. The identities of those involved were not released.
