Officials: Wareham house fire deemed accidental

A fire on June 6 that caused $200,000 worth of damage to a Great Neck Road home was determined to be accidental, according to the state fire marshal.

The three-alarm fire occurred at 91 Great Neck Road. The house was empty at the time expect for a few pets. None of the animals, which included a dog, were injured. The fire prompted officials to call in Onset’s ladder truck to assist with extinguishing the blaze. The Bourne, Carver, Middleboro and Marion Fire Departments also offered support.

Fire officials said there is no evidence to suggest the fire was set on purpose. According to investigators, the fire started in the dining room. In the room there was a laptop and an electrical outlet. Investigators said because neither one of those could be ruled out as the culprit, no official cause for the fire will be listed.

The Wareham Fire and Police Departments, in addition to State Police and the State Fire Marshal’s office investigated.
