Eastern Bank recently presented the Gleason Family YMCA with a $10,000 check to support the expansion of the facility. The YMCA will add a group fitness center and multi-purpose room.

“We are so pleased Eastern Bank is taking a lead role in supporting our expansion which will increase our group fitness space and add separate adult locker rooms," said Laura Prisco, executive director of the Gleason Y. "There are very few grant opportunities that support capital projects and we appreciate Eastern Bank’s investment in our strong track record for filling our facility with wellness programs that the community participates in and appreciates.”

Eastern Bank’s $10,000 donation will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the Penzance Foundation Matching Challenge Grant, bringing the total donation to $20,000.

The Penzance Foundation Matching Challenge is in effect from April 15 to September 30, and will match all gifts made to the expansion, up to $400,000. As of July 1, the Y has received $101,837 in donations from members and friends from Falmouth to Mattapoisett. The gifts and matching donations total $203,674.
