Gilda Klimas, 71

Gilda A. Klimas, 71, of Wareham, died July 8 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth after a courageous eight-year battle with cancer. She was the wife of James W. Klimas, Sr.

Born in Norwood, she was the daughter of the late Gregory and Genevieve (Bonito) Napolitano. A graduate of Walpole High School, she summered in Wareham during her youth.

Mrs. Klimas was a compliance officer for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. She loved going to Jungle Hut beach in Florida and Swift’s Neck beach in Wareham. She enjoyed boat rides with Loreah and Samantha on their little Boston Whaler boat on Lake Winnipesaukee. She also enjoyed walks and bike rides with her husband. She loved her girls days out with her friends and cousins. She loved her numerous trips to Florida with her nephews Jimmy and Wayne. She always had an extremely positive outlook on life. And, she especially loved spending time with her sons, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, James W. Klimas, Sr. of Wareham; her two sons, James W. Klimas, Jr. and his wife Laura of N. Andover, and David A. Klimas and his husband Kurt of Washington, D.C.; her grandchildren, James W. III, Carli, Loreah, and Samantha Klimas; her sister, Mary O’Leary of Foxboro; her brother, Joseph M. Zeoli and his wife Pat of Foxboro, and her nephews, Jimmy O’Leary and Wayne Ouellette.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Route 28), Wareham on Monday, July 23, from 4 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 24, at St. Patricks’ Church, High St., Wareham at 11 a.m. Burial will be private.
