Wareham Police said a drunk, unruly 70-year-old man was arrested Monday morning after he was found with a loaded gun on his boat.

Richard Lepage of Douglas was charged with disorderly conduct and being an intoxicated person in possession of a firearm.

Police said officers responded to Besse Park at approximately 8:45 a.m. after receiving a report of an intoxicated man.

At the scene, Officers Karl Baptiste and Richard Robidoux found Lepage. When officers attempted to speak with Lepage, he screamed expletives at them and refused to cooperate, police said.

Baptiste then noticed a handgun on the boat’s console. Lepage then became increasingly hostile, screaming to get off of his boat, according to police. The gun was loaded and secured by officers.

Lepage is scheduled to appear in Wareham District Court on Tuesday.
