Fiddle contest kicks off 4th of July

Wareham celebrates its 3rd summer fiddler's seranade
Jul 4, 2011

Rowland Thacher Fellowship Hall was the scene for Wareham's third fiddle contest in as many years, and a group of seven young area fiddlers sent the large crowd home tapping their feet.

Entrants from Rochester, Falmouth, and Plympton competed in three categories: 12 and under, under 18, and open. Winners in each category were Sophie Gardner of Plympton (11) in the 12 and under; Jessie Gardner of Plympton in the 18 and under; and Tiffany Rozenas of Rochester in the open class.

This is the third year the contest has been held on the 4th of July at Rowland Thacher Fellowship Hall and the crowd watching the free event has increased every year. As in all past contests, the individual age competition was followed by an all contestants jam, which included accompanists and teachers.
