Police charged a 55-year-old East Wareham man with his fourth operating under the influence of liquor violation on Friday, July 27, after he allegedly almost crashed into a police cruiser.

Ronald Deshiro Jr., of 165 Lake Avenue, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of liquor (fourth offense), negligent operation of a motor vehicle and marked lanes violation.

According to police, Deshiro nearly hit Officers Stephen Harrison and Aaron Pacheco while they were driving on Barker Road at approximately 9:15 p.m.

Pacheco swerved off the road to prevent a head-on collision as Deshiro was driving in the wrong lane. A crash was avoided and Deshiro continued on Barker Road. Pacheco turned around and pulled over and stopped Deshiro on Morrison Street, police said.

Deshiro is scheduled to appear in Wareham District Court on Monday, July 30.
