Wareham sewer crews repair manhole, mitigate odor problem at Indian Mound Beach
Aug 25, 2018
A corroded manhole on Cohasset Road that caused headaches for neighbors for three years due to the smell of sewage was repaired on Thursday, Aug. 23, according to Wareham Water Pollution Control Director Guy Campinha.
Neighbors had reported a noxious smell coming from the manhole, located in the Indian Mound Beach neighborhood, near the Bourne town line. Campinha noted that section of pipe receives sewage flow from the Hideaway Village pump station in Bourne. Because of the manhole’s location near the town line, it was unclear whether Bourne or Wareham was responsible for the repairs.
With the matter settled recently, Wareham sewer crews got to work and spent two days repairing the manhole, which solved the odor problem, said Campinha.
