Cape Verdean Festival comes to Onset
The Onset Cape Verdean Festival, sponsored by the Onset Cape Verdean Festival Association, will be held on Saturday, August 13 from noon to 6 p.m. in downtown Onset with a rain date of Sunday, August 14.
The Cape Verdean Festival is one of the community's largest annual events. And promises music, shopping, and plenty of food.
There will be 20 food vendors selling traditional Cape Verdean dishes, American food, and desserts along with 80 regular vendors selling Cape Verdean artifacts, clothing, arts and crafts, jewelry, and many other items.
This year’s entertainment will feature Cape Verdean performers from New Bedford, Brockton, Pawtucket, and Boston. The main headliner will be the Monte Cara Band.
Parking is available for $5 at specified areas along Onset Avenue. A free shuttle is provided to the festival site from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Onset Cape Verdean Festival Association is a non-profit organization. There is no charge for the festival. The Onset Cape Verdean Festival is funded strictly through donations from sponsors, community businesses, and individual supporters of the festival.
Donations can be made to Onset Cape Verdean Festival Association, P.O. Box 722, Onset, MA 02558.
All spots for food vendors are sold but if you are interested in a regular spot call Mike Roderick at 508-789-8726.
