A gingerbread celebration at Hammond Elementary
What better way to kick off Christmas vacation than with a Gingerbread Celebration?
Kindergartners in Sherri Williams' class at the Ethel E. Hammond Elementary School practiced their counting skills with gingerbread counting games, learned about symmetry while decorating a construction paper gingerbread, and even got to eat their own gingerbread cookie on Friday, December 22.
Though every activity was gingerbread-themed, not everything was edible! The children could cut and decorate a realistic-smelling gingerbread "cookie" out of modeling clay, but it was important not to mix that up with the REAL gingerbread cookie station.
"You can eat the other ones over there!" Sadee Maurice explained to a fellow kindergartener who liked the sweet smell of the clay.
