Schools awarded grant for early literacy
Wareham Public Schools have been awarded a $40,000 grant to support early literacy screenings and professional development.
The state grant program is designed to help teachers anticipate and better serve their students literacy needs, according to a press release from Sen. Marc Pacheco.
I am very pleased that Wareham Public Schools will be receiving a $40,000 grant that will strengthen their administrative capacity to plan and prepare for literacy challenges,” said Pacheco. “These valuable resources will directly support our local K-12 educational institutions in their efforts to assess future levels of student need and implement effective academic solutions.
The district intends to utilize grant resources for the “purchase of professional development to use data to inform instructional decision-making and planning in the early grades.”
