WAREHAM – Elaine T. Vanderwal, 84, of Wareham, died Monday, December 19, 2022 at Tobey Hospital. She was the wife of William J. Vanderwal, Jr.

Born in Danvers, she was the daughter of the late John T. and Helen W. (Maloney) Barry.

She graduated from Holten High School in Danvers.

Mrs. Vanderwal worked for New England Telephone for many years before she moved to Chicago. In Chicago, she worked as a clerk for J.C. Penny. She returned to Wareham in 2001. Mr. and Mrs. Vanderwal were longtime summer residents of Onset Island.

Survivors include her husband, William; her sister, Kathleen Robinson of Danvers; her sister in-law, Margaret Ann Rollins; her nephews, Alexander Rollins, Barry Robinson and Keith Robinson; and her nieces, Jessica Torrey and Doreen Clausnitzer.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at Chapman Funerals and Cremations – Wareham, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. (Rt. 28), Wareham from 2 – 4 PM. A private graveside will be held on Wednesday at Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers.
