Art is a powerful tool for sparking conversations, building connections to the ocean and deepening one’s understanding of ocean issues.

Join Bow Seat, a Massachusetts-based nonprofit which uses art to raise awareness of ocean conservation, for an art workshop at the Onset Bay Center on Thursday, April 20 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

This free workshop will walk kids between the ages of 11 and 18 through methods of art appreciation and interpretation, allowing time for reflection, poetry writing and hands-on projects. Dianne Enzian of Dianne’s Art Farm will also be there, leading an art project for all ages. 

Young artists will also have the chance to enter this year’s Bow Seat Ocean Awareness Contest, earning cash prizes and scholarships while creating art that makes a difference. 

The event is part of an exhibit of student artwork from the Bow Seat contest, which will be on display at the Onset Bay Center from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 22.
