Car strikes police cruiser during traffic stop
A Plymouth resident was arraigned at Wareham District Court on Monday, May 20 after allegedly rear-ending a Wareham Police Department cruiser during a traffic stop.
Cameron McPhee, 24, was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, failure to move over for an emergency vehicle and possession of an open container of alcohol.
On Sunday, May 19, at approximately 9 p.m., a Wareham police officer stopped a vehicle around 3132 Cranberry Highway. According to the Wareham Police Department, McPhee’s car hit the cruiser from behind while the officer was sitting inside with the cruiser’s emergency lights activated.
Wareham EMS transported both McPhee and the Wareham Police Department officer to Tobey Hospital.
