On Saturday, September 7th, the Onset Cape Verdean Festival Association sponsored a Cape Cod Canal Cruise to raise funds for scholarships.  The event attracted 146 friends of the organization from the Cape Cod communities, New Bedford, Providence and as far away as Connecticut.  Everyone joined together to celebrate the end of the season and support OCVFA.    DJ Frye entertained with great music and the group danced throughout the 2 hour cruise.  The crowd enjoyed a spectacular sunset as they returned to the Onset Pier.

Finger foods, chips and cookies were served.  A 50/50 raffle and scratch ticket board raffle generated a lot of enthusiasm and helped raise funds.

Eight High School 2024 graduates have been selected to receive a $1,000 scholarship to pursue higher education.   OCVFA has awarded over $200,000 in scholarships and donated to numerous youth organizations since 2003 when the organization was formed.

In 2025, the Onset Cape Verdean Festival will take place on August 9 in Onset.  The Canal Cruise is set for Sept. 13 with DJ Frye once again providing the music.

The OCVFA Board and Scholarship Committee extends sincere appreciation to all who attended and supported this wonderful end of summer event.
