Joanne E. (McCassie) Doucette, 82

WAREHAM – Joanne E. (McCassie) Doucette, 82, of Onset, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2024, at Nemasket Healthcare Center in Middleboro.

She was the beloved wife of the late Edward C. Doucette Jr. and the daughter of the late James and Jeanne (McDonald) McCassie.

Born and raised in Newton, Joanne was a proud graduate of Our Lady’s High School. She married her high school sweetheart, and they settled in Waltham, where they raised their three sons, Kenneth B. Doucette, Timothy A. Doucette, and Steven E. Doucette.

Joanne dedicated many years to her career as an Administrative Assistant at Varian Medical Systems before retiring to pursue her passions. In retirement, Joanne moved to Onset, where she found joy in the breathtaking sunrises over Broad Cove, often sharing photos with family and friends. Her stuffed quahogs became a family favorite, showcasing her love for cooking and holiday traditions.

A woman of many talents, Joanne enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sailing, and making grape jelly from the vines in her backyard. Her adventurous spirit also led her to become a proud member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Joanne is survived by her three sons, Kenneth, and his wife Pamela, of Waltham, Timothy, and his wife Kelley, of Stratham, NH, and Steven, and his wife Allison, of Waltham; her brother, Joel McCassie of Newton; and her 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry her memory in their hearts. She was predeceased by her sisters, Jayne Allen and Judy Todesco, and her brother, Jim McCassie.

Joanne's warmth, creativity, and love for her family will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Visiting hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024, at Chapman Funerals & Cremations –, WAREHAM, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham.

Her funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 8, 2024 from the funeral home followed by a Mass at 12:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Onset. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
