Rick Graham Memorial Ride raises $10,000

Sep 17, 2012

The 10th annual Rick Graham Memorial Ride raised more than $10,000 in its effort to promote awareness about diabetes on Sunday, Sept. 16.

The ride began in Dorchester and ended at the Dudley L. Brown VFW in Onset, where participants and their families could get free health screenings from Southcoast Health System and relax with music from a blues band and two DJs.

The ride is held each year in memory of Rick Graham, a Boston firefighter who died in 2001 after suffering a diabetes-related medical issue that caused him to crash his motorcycle.

Proceeds help the families of deceased riders and charities in the Boston and Wareham areas, with most of the funding benefitting the American Diabetes Association.
