Gary L. Desmarais, 58, of Wareham passed away Jan. 6 at Charlton Memorial Hospital with his wife Debra A. (Hodkinson) at his side.

Born in Fall River, he was son of Gisele (Turcotte) Desmarais of Fall River and the late Normand J. Desmarais. Gary was raised in Swansea and later moved to Wareham, where he spent the last 20 years until his recent illness, at which time he began spending time in Westport along with his wife, children and grandchildren.

Gary was a 1972 graduate of Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School in Fall River, where he studied electronics. He later attended Bristol Community College and went on to work as a salesman for Capeway Electrical Supply Company in Wareham until it closed. Gary was currently employed at Johnson Electrical Supply in Sagamore Beach, Mass. He loved sports, was an avid golfer, and was a member of both the Elks Lodge in Wareham and the Bay Pointe Golf Club.

Survivors including his wife and mother are his 3 sons: Bryan Desmarais and his wife Mandi (DeJesus) of Westport, Christopher J. Desmarais and his wife Maureen (Rivet) of Acushnet, and Daniel P. Desmarais of Westport; his 3 beautiful grandchildren: Christopher J., Jr., Thomas P. and Kathryn A. Desmarais all of Acushnet; 3 siblings: Ronald N. Desmarais and his wife Linda (Dean) of Fall River, Jeannine (Desmarais) and her husband Robert Green of Singapore, and Louise D. Desmarais of N.M.; 9 nieces and nephews, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Memorial Mass to which relatives and friends are invited will be Friday, January 11,  at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 530 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea, Mass. at 11 a.m.

Memorial calling hours will be Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Rd., Westport.

Interment will be private.
