National Guard arrives in Wareham, some residents may not see power until Thursday

Feb 10, 2013

The National Guard arrived in Wareham on Sunday afternoon, and utility crews hailing from Quebec to Wisconsin were dispatched to repair the dozens of downed power lines and damaged utility poles caused by the weekend's blizzard.

NSTAR says the South Coast and Cape Cod are among the areas hardest hit by the storm, and are where the company is focusing its restoration efforts.

While some customers' power was restored late Saturday and Sunday, NSTAR advised customers on Sunday evening to prepare for a "prolonged outage."

The company estimated that power would be fully restored in Wareham by Thursday night.

Wareham Week will continue to provide updates as often as possible.
