William 'Bill' Minot VI, 70
William "Bill" Minot VI, 70, of Bourne Point, Wareham, died peacefully on Friday, April 5. William was born in Boston on September 29, 1942, the son of William Minot V and Jane Widener, both of Wareham.
He graduated from The Dexter School for Boys (1954), Milton Academy (1960), and received his BA in government and history from Trinity College (1964). During his years at Trinity, Bill was a proud and active singing member of the Trinity Pipes. He went on to receive a MBA graduate degree from Harvard Business School (1969).
Bill had a partnership on the NY Stock Exchange, a performance at Carnegie Hall, and later, a career as a studio executive at 20th Century Fox and MGM. He served as an adjunct professor at the Boston University School of Communication, and was a 20-year voting member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
An avid enthusiast of the sea and racket sports, Bill loved swimming in the ocean by his home near Cape Cod, and participated in many court tennis championships over the years. He was a founding member of the Wareham YMCA and a member of the Brook Club, NY. In addition to his lifelong work and love for the movie business, he was also the author of the novel "60 Miles from Saltwater" and was soon to publish his second novel, "Silver Spoons."
He will be remembered for his kind heart, his incomparable skill at dancing, and his prodigious and unrestrained sense of humor. William is survived by his loving partner of many years, Jane Allen Tougas of Marion, and his beloved and devoted daughter, Elizabeth Draper Minot of Brooklyn, NY.
