‘Positively Wareham’: Students of the month named

Every month, exceptional students in each grade at the Wareham Middle School are recognized.

February’s fifth grader of the month is Jalayla Carlson, who teachers describe as determined, kind and “a dream student.”

“Her classwork demonstrates thoughtfulness and meticulous attention as she strives for excellence,” one teacher wrote. “She understands that growth comes from hard work and perseverance.”

Other teachers mentioned Jalayla’s kind, respectful and cooperative nature.

Wyatt Park, who teachers described as respectful, thoughtful and kind, is the sixth-grade student of the month.

“He is patient, eager to help his classmates, and has a gentle presence that he shares with whomever he comes in contact with,” one teacher wrote. “Wyatt strives to do his best with whatever he is working on.”

Teachers praised his eagerness to learn and readiness to help. 

The seventh-grader of the month is Amaryi Gonsalves, who teachers describe as being hard-working and helpful with an “energetic and fun attitude.”

“He advocates for himself in class and he is always eager to learn,” one teacher said. “Amaryi is also very respectful and kind to his teachers and peers.”

Others praised his excellent note-taking, insightful questions and positivity.

Avery Paulo is the Scotty Monteiro Jr. award-winner for the month of February at the Wareham Middle School. Officials from the school describe Avery as a conscientious student with a positive attitude and infectious smile who always treats others with kindness and respect.   

“Wareham Middle School is proud to have such a positive role model that is always thoughtful, respectful, and responsible in all that she does,” one staffer wrote. 

At the High School, Coilin Corey ‘23 is the student of the month and Abigail Ulianelli Young ‘23 is the Scotty Monteiro Foundation award-winner.
