Sen. Marc R. Pacheco announced on Wednesday that A.D. Makepeace received a $50,000 grant through the Agricultural Climate Resiliency & Efficiencies (ACRE) program.

The program assists farms with installing practices that help mitigate their impacts on climate change and adapt to changing climate conditions. According to Pacheco, this year’s round of ACRE grants will assist 40 agricultural operations and provide over $1 million to agricultural sectors.

“The changing climate presents formidable challenges to the southeastern region — especially with regard to our local agricultural sector,” said Pacheco. “I am glad that we can rely on programs like ACRE to provide critical resources in our local communities. I’d especially like to thank everyone who contributed to these successful grant applications and look forward to continuing my support for similar opportunities on behalf of the district.”

A.D. Makepeace in Wareham has been awarded $50,000 to purchase and install three irrigation pumps on their cranberry bogs.
