All day play at Decas Elementary School

Jun 6, 2016

Students at John W. Decas Elementary School were treated to a full day of playing outside during their annual field day.

Each class, or team, competed in the events and teachers helped create shirts with their team names on them, like the Doyle Pack.

They started the event off with a 50-yard dash for all students. Then, the children chose two of eight events to compete in: softball throw, obstacle course, frisbee throw, homerun hit, frisbee race, hippity-hop throw and the high jump.

Marina Mikhaeil and Breanne Burdick of Macee Doyle's second grade class chose to participate in the obstacle course and the high jump, where they had to jump over a big stick.

They won second place in the class versus class tug-o-war, which came after a relay race and marathon run.

Mikhaeil and Burdick said they both had a lot of fun even though it was a hot day, and they looked forward to field day next year.

Patrick Roche and Anna Rego's classes tied for first place overall and won ice-pops.
