A man who allegedly stole purses from women at Target in Wareham Crossing was caught June 12, according to Wareham police.

Police found the suspect, 27-year-old Sean Wallace, on Main Street after tracing a reported stolen cell phone, police said.

Female victims at Target reported seeing a male in his 20s bumping into their carriages on June 12, police said. The victims then noticed that their purses were gone.

After speaking with two victims and witnesses and obtaining a description of the suspect, officers traced a stolen cell phone and found Wallace, according to police.

During conversation with Wallace, who matched the victims' description, Officer George Dionne confirmed his involvement in the purse thefts and recovered the cell phone, police said.

Police are still investigating the possibility of additional thefts committed by Wallace.

Wallace, of 91 Clay Pond Road in Bourne, was charged with larceny from a person, larceny from a person more than 65 years old, and receiving stolen property. He was arraigned at Wareham District Court.
