Alva J. Motto, 75

Alva J. Motto, 75, of South Plymouth, died Monday, January 4, 2021 at her home.  She was the wife of the late Manuel J. Motto.

Born in New York, NY, she was the daughter of the late Gordon S. and Jean (Brandt) Russell.  Mrs. Motto received her RN/BSN degree and trained at Boston City Hospital.  She previously lived in Provincetown where she was the town nurse.  In 1980, she moved to Wareham, then South Plymouth where she raised her family.  She was nursing director at Tremont Nursing Home and Plymouth Nursing Home and several other area nursing homes.

Mrs. Motto was a devoted Catholic and parishioner at St. Patrick’s Church in Wareham.  She taught Faith Formation for many years at St. Margaret’s Church in Buzzards Bay.  She was also Cub Scout den mother and a dedicated “Sports Mom” and would always be at a game or practice for her kids.

She is survived by her children, Manuel Motto, III of Deshler, NE, Russell Motto and Joseph Motto both of Wareham, Michael Motto and John Motto both of Plymouth, and Michelle Livengood of Minneapolis, KS; her sister, Robin McCleod of Loxahatchee, FL; 14 grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Monday, January 11, 2021 at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. (Rt. 28), Wareham from 5 – 7 PM.  (Appropriate COVID-19 protocol will be observed including the use of face masks, social distancing and wait times in line due to temporary limited capacity.)  Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 12th at St. Patrick’s Church, 82 High St., Wareham at 10 AM.  Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Wareham.
