The Select Board unanimously appointed Andrea Ericson to the Wareham Cultural Council for a term to expire June 30, 2026, pending the completion of all necessary paperwork and training, at its Tuesday, Aug. 1 meeting.

Ericson, who is an art teacher at Wareham Middle School and the Unified Arts Department chair, said she has been teaching at the school for approximately a decade and has lived in town for six years.

She said a colleague informed her of the opening on the council. 

“I looked you guys up and I just agree with so much of the stuff I saw on the website and I got really excited when I saw all the programs that you were involved in,” Ericson said. “Many of the things I do that I didn't know the Cultural Council was involved in like the music nights in Onset and the chalk nights and a lot of cool stuff.”

She added, “So when she told me that there was an opening, I told her I would definitely apply.”
