Ann M. Pappi, 79
Ann M. Pappi, 79, of Wareham, died Oct. 3, 2013 in Tobey Hospital, Wareham. She was the daughter of the late Alfred and Inez (Guidaboni) Pappi.
She was born in New Bedford and lived in Wareham and New York City for many years. She graduated from Wareham High School and Smith College. She went on to earn a Master of Social Work degree from Smith College School for Social Work.
Pappi was a gifted clinical social worker who became a supervisor, mentor and administrator in various settings including the Paine-Whitney Psychiatric Clinic of Cornell Medical College in New York, and most recently the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health.
Her caring spirit, lively intellect, and appreciation of life enriched the lives of her family, friends, colleagues and clients. In recent years she was active in local community organizations. She was a member of the Wamsutta Club in New Bedford and the Wareham Historical Society. She was involved in Smith College alumnae activities and other community activities.
Survivors include her sister, Jane MacNeil of Boston; a niece, Elizabeth L. Merrick and her husband Brian of Somerville; a nephew, David MacNeil and his wife, Patricia of Alexandria, VA.
Her funeral service and burial were held on Oct. 7, 2013 in Wareham. Charitable donations in her memory may be made to Tobey Hospital, Philanthropy Dept., 43 High St., Wareham, MA 02571.
