Ann O’Connor, 81
Ann F. (Smylie) O’Connor, 81, of Wareham, formerly of Wayland, died July 11 at her home after a long illness.
She was the dear wife of John R. O’Connor for 56 years. Born and raised in Waltham, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth W. and Elizabeth (Shinnick) Smylie and graduated from Waltham High School. Mrs. O’Connor worked most of her career as a secretary for Raytheon.
Her sense of humor and engaging personality were widely appreciated and led to valued friendships throughout her life. She enjoyed golf, bingo and time spent with family and friends.
Mrs. O’Connor was predeceased by her sisters and brothers in-law, Patricia and Donald MacLennan and Nancy and John Timmins. She is survived by her husband John; a nephew, A. Scott MacLennan and his wife Elise; a niece, Faith Erickson; and a grandnephew, Kyle Erickson.
The family would like to thank the many caregivers who provided kind attention throughout Mrs. O’Connor’s illness.
Visiting hours will be held on July 15 at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway, Wareham from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. followed by a funeral service at noon. Private interment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Needham.
