Annual Walk for Hunger organizers seek participants

Apr 7, 2016

The seventh annual Greater Wareham Walk for Hunger is scheduled for Sunday, May 1, beginning at 1 p.m. Registration will take place from noon to 12:45 p.m. at the Church of the Good Shepard.

Proceeds support Project Bread, a nonprofit dedicated to alleviating, preventing, and ultimately ending hunger in Massachusetts. Project Bread supports more than 400 soup kitchens, food pantries and food banks in 135 communities throughout Massachusetts, including Wareham.

Last year, Walk for Hunger raised approximately $8,000 for Project Bread. This year, organizers hope to meet or increase that amount through pledges.

The 5-mile course begins at the Church of the Good Shepherd, proceeds down Sandwich Road to Depot Street, then to Minot Avenue before ending at the Church of the Good Shepherd.
