Anthony Ravida, Jr., 89
Anthony R. Ravida, Jr., 89, of Wareham died Sept. 14 at home. He was the husband of Robin (O’Neill) Ravida and the son of the late Anthony R. Ravida, Sr. and Mary K. (Bloom) Ravida.
He was born in Boston and lived in Wareham for more than 20 years. He graduated from Boston Memorial High School.
He was a World War II and Korean War Veteran serving in the United States Marine Corps.
Mr. Ravida worked as an EKG technician for the Veterans Affairs Administration. Previously, he owned and operated a remodeling business.
He loved his pets and was affectionately known as “the cat man of Wareham.” He was a lifetime member of the D.A.V. in Plymouth and the Dudley Brown VFW Post in Onset and a member of the China Marines in California.
Survivors include his wife, Robin (O’Neill) Ravida; his children, Stephen R. Ravida of Bourne, Deborah J. McCarthy of Mansfield, Cheryl Kondroski of Brockton, Mark Ravida of Wareham, Michael Ravida of Sandwich, Melissa Ravida of Wareham, Tina O’Neill of Pawtucket, Rhode Island and Eric O’Neill of Hyannis; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Norma Jean Ravida and his son, Kenneth A. Ravida.
His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 25 in the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway, Wareham. Visiting hours are from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the funeral. Burial will follow in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
