Arthur J. Schreiner Jr., 78, of Venice, Fl., and Wareham, formerly of Rumford, RI., Rehoboth and Attleboro, MA., passed away Wednesday Nov. 13, at home in Wareham, surrounded by his loving family and friends.

Arthur was the husband for 52 years of Beverly (Johnson) Schreiner of Venice, FL and Wareham.

Arthur was born in Pawtucket, RI the son of the late Arthur J. and Isabella (Palonis) Schreiner Sr.  He attended and graduated from Saint James Elementary, Warwick High School and the University of Rhode Island.  He was employed as an Engineer at Dimeo Construction Co. for 41 years until his retirement.

Arthur was also an active member in the Rumford Lions, South Venice Yacht Club, The Cromessett Park Improvement Association, The Corvette Club and a founding member of the Can’t Get Old Club.

Arthur had an athletic ease about him.  He excelled at and, fully enjoyed, playing golf, tennis and softball in leagues and against whoever was interested in taking him on.

He is also best known by family and friends as someone who loved to entertain, share friendships, a Bass Ale and happy times.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his loving children: Doreen Floyd of Winthrop, Laurie McGraw of Colorado, Lisa MacMaster of Westport and David Schreiner of North Falmouth.  Arthur is also survived by his eight grandchildren: Colin, Chelsea, Max, Lucy, Harry, Matt, Jack and Anastasia. He is also the brother of Arlene Harrington of Long Island, NY and the late Marilyn Peabody.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday Nov. 18, from 4-7pm at the Wareham Village Funeral Home located at 5 Center Street Wareham, MA.  Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.

His funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday Nov. 19 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, 82 High Street Wareham.  Relatives and friends are welcome to gather at the church at 9:45 am.  Interment will be private.
